Faith in Motion is a collaboration of faith communities across San Diego County working together for the well-being of children and their families.

Creating opportunities for every child to feel safe nurtured and loved.

What is Faith in Motion (FIM)?

Faith in Motion is a collaborative effort between the San Diego County Child and Family Well-Being (CFWB) and local faith leaders and their organizations. This partnership focuses on the support of biological families, resource parents, kinship caregivers, and adoptive families. Faith in Motion seeks to:

  • Prevent children coming into foster care
  • Support and enhance permanency for youth in care
  • Support placement of siblings in the same home
  • Remove any barriers that may preclude a youth from being placed with relatives
  • Promote placement stability for youth in a resource home
  • Wraparound support to families through care communities.

The Faith in Motion Collaborative is driven by the need for youth and families to maintain safe and supportive relationships during a challenging time so they can remain and thrive in their local communities.

Our Story: How It All Started

The County of San Diego Child and Family Well-Being (CFWB) Department, and has a long history with the Faith Community. FIM has sought to partner for the retention and recruitment of resource families. This has included the development of an annual calendar featuring Pastors from faith organizations throughout San Diego alongside foster children in need of a forever home; in addition to providing presentations and informational booth during church services.

In 2016, the Foster & Adoptive Resource Family Services Program, assembled a team of social workers that began to develop the foundations of Faith in Motion in San Diego County, in partnership with Foster Family Agencies and Faith Based organizations. The work has included the recruitment of resource families, utilizing churches and other faith organizations to find homes for youth and to inform and educate about the needs of youth care.
